Doug Riley - BIOGRAPHY

A native of Toronto, Doug Riley has been an integral part of the Canadian music community, as a composer, arranger and performer. He has performed with some of the most prolific artists in the classical, jazz and commercial music genres. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music with Oscar Peterson’s teacher, Paul De Marky, and graduated from the University of Toronto.

Doug Riley has received innumerable international awards for recording and performance. As a composer and arranger, Mr. Riley has worked with Placido Domingo, Ofra Harnoy, the National Ballet and Michael Burgess. As a performer, he has worked on recordings with, to name a few: Ray Charles, David Clayton Thomas, The Brecker Brothers, Bob Seger, Ringo Starr, Gordon Lightfoot, Anne Murray and Moe Koffman.

Doug Riley won Jazz Organist of the Year continuously from 1993 to 2000 at the annual Jazz Report Awards. He will be awarded the Order of Canada in the fall of 2004.
