Canadian
jazz pianist Brian Browne has released an exceptional
new CD entitled Blue Browne produced by Paul Novotny
on the Seajam Recordings label. Browne's distinctive,
bluesy piano style swings with traces of Oscar Peterson,
Errol Garner, George Shearing and Art Tatum, yet the
sound is unmistakably his own. With ingenious interpretations
of seven standards plus two remarkable, original compositions,
one can only marvel at his brilliant arrangements and
compositional ideas. Featuring Browne on piano with
veteran drummers Archie Alleyne and Barry Elmes plus
bassist Paul Novotny, this CD is a succinct example
of musical intelligence, rich with intriguing nuances,
diverse fluid rhythms and redefined melodies. On Blue Browne, the very essence of jazz piano is distilled
demonstrating a graceful maturity of tone and a sensitive
technique. The result is nothing short of masterful.
